Second Creek runs through four (4) suburbs within the Norwood St Peters Payneham Council area, the stormwater outlet to Second Creek discharges out into the River Torrens in the suburb of St Peters.
The Second Creek Outfall Project (the project) will deliver improved gross pollutant capture at Second Creek/River Torrens at St Peters through the upgrade of existing gross pollutant traps. This will be achieved through the consolidation of infrastructure to create one collection bay and a single access for cleaning.
Green Adelaide (Department of Environment and Water) in partnership with the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters have a program to improve the quality of urban stormwater discharging to rivers and the sea. Existing GPTs located at the outlet of Second Creek and on the River Torrens at St Peters are used in this program. Importantly these are the last point of gross pollutant capture in line along the Torrens River prior to Torrens Lake in the Adelaide CBD.
