Southern Lights NSW, working in cooperation with Essential Energy (the street lighting service provider for the 41 local governments participating in Southern Lights NSW), is seeking proposals from innovative suppliers for a range of low-cost smart city sensors that could be mounted on its street lights in Zhaga Book 18 interfaces.
The Southern Lights project is managed by the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC). REROC is the body facilitating and co-ordinating the EOI process as part of its role as project manager for Southern Lights. REROC is working in consultation with the other Local Government bodies that represent the participating councils: Central NSW JO, Riverina and Murray JO and Canberra Region JO.
Southern Lights NSW and REROC notes that, while there is a substantial opportunity for the deployment of sensors, this EOI is only intended to identify smart city opportunities for local government. While it is expected that this EOI will inform a future procurement process REROC can provide no guarantees that this EOI will ultimately lead to a procurement by the Southern Lights NSW participating councils.
The EOI requests that suppliers provide pricing which Southern Lights intends to use to inform its planning for the deployment of sensors including possible applications for funding.
