Active Schools Expert Support Service

⁠⁠⁠The Department seeks a supplier to provide an expert support service to support Victorian government schools to implement an Active Schools approach and improve the physical activity outcomes of students.

The expert support service will consist of two support streams:

• Leadership and capacity building support (Physical Education Leaders) - Direct support across government schools to provide leadership and on the ground mentorship and capacity building to enable schools to implement an Active Schools framework
• Extracurricular support (Extracurricular Coordinators) - Direct support to schools to implement an extra-curricular program that meets the needs of their student population.

The Department is seeking to engage a supplier or consortium with appropriate expertise in the education system, physical activity, health promotion programs and/or community development initiatives. The preferred supplier/s will also have significant expertise in project management.

The preferred supplier would be an organisation that has experience within the education sector, schools, as well as a strong understanding of, and experience in, health and physical education, community engagement and health promotion. The organisation will have experience in building the capacity and expertise of health and physical education teachers, as well an ability to apply health promotion principles and whole school approaches, and link with the Victorian Curriculum. It is also expected, that the supplier understands the benefits of and facilitate collaborative effort to ensure the two steams work together with schools that they work with in common.

Where a consortium is the preferred option, the Department would negotiate with all members or a lead organisation and enter into separate contracts with each consortium member. A consortium is proposed as an option as the two support streams will be performing different functions and require different skills and expertise.

The organisation will work closely with the Department throughout the contract. The Department will provide support to ensure that the support streams are aligned and well connected with the regional supports and schools.
