The State Government has nominated the METRONET Railcar Procurement Project as a "strategic project" under the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017. A key Project objective is the State Government's desire to maximise opportunities for Western Australian (WA) jobs, apprenticeships and Small/Medium Enterprise participation. To facilitate the above objective, the State Government has announced Bellevue as the chosen location for the new multi-functional depot.

The Bellevue Depot will include:

The New Railcar Maintenance Facilities which forms part of the scope of this Invitation for Expression of Interest (Invitation for EOI), comprising delivery of:

• B-series Maintenance Facilities;
• Diesel Railcar Maintenance Facilities;
• Underfloor Wheel Lathe and Bogie Drop Table Building;
• Bellevue Depot yard tracks and overhead line equipment; and
• works associated with the closure of Robinson Road.

The Public Transport Authority intends to select the Contractor pursuant to a two-stage Procurement Phase consisting of an EOI Phase and an interactive Restricted Request for Tender (RRFT) Phase with Shortlisted Respondents.

Upon successful conclusion of the Procurement Process, it is envisaged that a Contract will be established with the Contractor for the Project.
