Wandong Kindergarten Expansion (Re-Tender)

⁠⁠⁠The Victorian State Government is implementing a universal funded 3-year-old kindergarten program across the State which will commence in Mitchell Shire in 2022. With the expected growth in the area, the current facility soon will not meet the 3-year and 4-year kindergarten requirements of the Wandong /Heathcote Junction communities.

The Wandong Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre does not have a separate toilet or kitchen, and therefore cannot operate when the second kindergarten room is occupied, as the toilet and kitchen is in the second kindergarten room. It is a requirement that non- kindergarten staff and the public are not allowed access to the kindergarten room when a group is operating. This severely limits capacity of both the second kindergarten room and the MCH service, therefore it is essential for this upgrade to be completed so both services can be offered to the Wandong/ Heathcote Junction communities concurrently.

The core elements of the project will be:

• Increase the size of the second kindergarten room from 23 to 33 children.
• increase the number of toilets in the kindergarten toilet/bathroom and install a permanent change table.
• Increase in the size of the current waiting room in the Maternal and Child Health Centre area to include a disabled toilet and a kitchenette
