Tender Description
South East Local Land Services is calling for expressions of interest from land managers who are interested in participating in a new soil testing program.
What is it?
Funded through the Better Land Management Project, part of the Australian Government National Landcare Program, the program will include:
- Subsidised soil testing - participants will have the opportunity to do up to four soil tests per property based on a “two-for-one” offer.
- A two-day face to face workshop in February 2021. At this workshop the results of the soil testing will be discussed and producers will be walked through the ‘Five Easy Steps’ course.
Five Easy Steps is a leading-edge course that helps you work out what the numbers mean and develop a fertiliser program that is tailored to your soil type, stocking rate and production goals.
Note:
- More than 4 soil samples can be submitted, but the 5th sample (and beyond) will be charged at the full rate ($77/sample, incl GST).
- All soil samples will be analysed by NSW DPI Wollongbar Laboratory Services; an independent laboratory and NATA accredited (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia).
- The following tests are included: pH(CaCl2), pH(water), Electrical conductivity, Colwell P, Phosphorus Buffer Index (PBI), Colwell K, Available S, Exchangeable Cations, Total Carbon.
When?
- The program is commencing this spring and is open to properties in the Yass Valley, Boorowa, Upper Lachlan, Goulburn-Mulwaree, Wingecarribee and Queanbeyan-Palerang local government areas.
- An initial two hour session to explain the correct soil sampling protocol, tips on choosing which paddocks or areas to sample and loaning of soil coring equipment will be held in the week commencing 19 October – locations and venues to be advised.
