Originally opening in 1911 the heritage listed empire theatre has for many years been the cultural hub of Toowoomba, a meeting place and regular entertainment spot not only for the local community, but the wider reaches of the Southern Queensland. Throughout its long history the space has undergone many transformations, most recently with an Award winning Refurbishment completed in March 2019. This project specifically focuses on the ‘Back of House’ change rooms and amenities, bringing these areas into alignment with expectations of amenity of such a community asset. The intent of this project is to ensure the Theatre precinct continues to serve as a significant and well utilised landmark of the community, through the refurbishment and upgrade of existing facilities.
