The Committee seeks submissions to advise the Minister for Planning on improvements to the planning provisions safeguarding Melbourne Airport and its environs
The Melbourne Airport Environs Safeguarding Standing Advisory Committee (the Committee) has been appointed by the Minister for Planning under Part B of its Terms of Reference to provide advice on improvements to the planning provisions safeguarding Melbourne Airport and its environs.
To ensure the ongoing safeguarding of Melbourne Airport’s curfew-free operations and environs, submissions are encouraged on improvements to the Melbourne Airport Environs Overlay and related provisions, and the effectiveness of the declared Melbourne Airport Environs Area and the Melbourne Airport Environs Strategy Plan 2003.
Submissions are welcome on improvements to planning provisions that may help safeguard other airport environs in Victoria.
Please note: The original submissions period for the Committee was scheduled to close on 18 September 2020. Due to the circumstances of COVID-19, the Committee has extended the submissions period by two weeks to close at 5.00pm on Friday, 2 October 2020 to ensure those interested have adequate time to make a submission. In addition, the Committee has decided to adjourn the Main Hearing to commence in early 2021 with dates to be advised. A Directions Hearing is scheduled for Friday, 16 October 2020.
