Derwent Valley Council provides and maintains an extensive network of civil infrastructure over an area of 4,111km2. Situated west of Hobart, the primary service centre of the Municipality is New Norfolk where the planned contract works are situated.
Derwent Valley Council has a commitment to providing and managing a quality network of assets and enhancing local industries to support our refurbishment needs and has identified remediation and improvement works to continue to improve and enhance its civil infrastructure.
Derwent Valley Council's Strategic Management Plan, Asset Management Strategy and Transport Asset Management Plan are the keystone documents that have guided the investigation into opportunities to improve the safety, integrity, compliance, and asset life of its infrastructure assets. The proposed Avenue & George Street Intersection & new Car Parks project works will: Provide an improved safety proposition, Significantly improve asset life, Ensure compliance with the required standards, and Deliver the best value outcomes.
Derwent Valley Council intends to provide car parking at the following locations:
PCYC, New Norfolk swimming pool, and Willow Court (x3).
Derwent Valley Council also intends to improve the George Street and Avenue intersection and a section of The Avenue.
A site briefing will be provided commencing 10.00am Monday 21st September 2020. Meet at the Agrarian Kitchen Car Park on The Avenue, New Norfolk. Following a short briefing and question session, all sites will be visited.
