Tender Description
The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the extraction of sand, and possibly limestone, from two adjoining and defined areas between Mandurah and Bunbury. The site is referred to as Myalup Stage 3 and is north of Johnston Road in the Shire of Waroona.,The area is part of State Forest 16 and is within a pine plantation from which the mature trees have been harvested and replanted in the recent few years. It is located over a part of the Spearwood Dune that rises up to 60 m altitude.The Minister for Mines and Petroleum is expected to invite two entities, selected from the submitted EOIs, to each apply for a mining lease and for one a related miscellaneous licence. The process is under authority provided by Section 19 of the Mining Act 1978.
