Access over Avon River Platforms for Commercial Use
Tender ID: 428550
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Christchurch City Council (Council) provides a network of parks that enhance health, well-being, recreation, and liveability for residents and visitors, and contribute to maintaining and enhancing the district’s environmental quality, cultural values and cultural heritage. A large number of these parks adjoin significant waterways and rivers including the Avon, Heathcote and Styx Rivers.
The land which forms the Avon River bank is vested in the Council to control and manage. Along these stretches of land are multiple platforms which are used by the public to view and enter the waterway. Commercial entities have also used these structures as entry points on an informal basis.
The Council is now seeking Expressions of Interest, in order to coordinate and formalise commercial access over these platforms. The successful applicants will receive a permit under the ‘Marine, River and Lake Facilities Bylaw 2018’. This document will provide a non-exclusive permission for each entity to utilise the platforms.
