Tender Description

Carpentaria Shire is located on the Gulf of Carpentaria roughly 700km West of Cairns and covers an area of approximately 65,000 square kilometres with its administrative and commercial centre located in Normanton.

The township of Normanton is currently supplied with treated water from the Normanton Water Treatment Plant. Raw water is sourced from the Glenore Weir approximately 22km South of Normanton and is pumped to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) for treatment.

To reduce the volume of potable water used for irrigation whilst at the same time reducing the loading on the Water Treatment Plant, Carpentaria Shire Council has been awarded a grant to construct a raw water irrigation network within Normanton. The proposed network will provide many public spaces and key economic businesses with access to raw water for irrigation throughout the year.

The proposed network includes a small pump station shed and 2 x 20 kL header tanks within the WTP footprint.
