Australia Day 2021 Community Event - Expressions of Interest

⁠⁠⁠Australia Day is a special time of the year for local residents to celebrate what makes the region a great place to live and visit.

Federation Council is interested in working with a community group or organisation that is passionate and already doing wonderful things to enrich the community, to help coordinate the official Australia Day Ceremony and Community Event.

The event will be held in Urana on Tuesday 26 January 2021.

Council will coordinate the formalities of the event, including the welcome address, welcome to the country, citizenship ceremonies, award presentations, ambassador guest speaker, flag raising ceremony and the singing of the National Anthem.

The successful community group or organisation will work with Council to organise the community event that will commence following the formalities of the day.

The organisers will have the support of Council staff to deliver an event that is family friendly, inclusive and provides an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the occasion. A dedicated budget of $8000 in the 2020/2021 has been allocated to the Australia Day Ceremony and Community Event. A percentage of the budget will be given to the community group to cover costs.

The Australia Day Event is delivered in partnership with the Community Group/s and is not for commercial benefit. The event plan and how the budget is used will be arranged and agreed upon in the first meeting between Council and the Community Group/s. The Letter of Agreement will be signed before the event planning takes place.
