Tender Description

The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix is held at Albert Park, Melbourne, typically during late-March each year. The actual date of the Event is usually confirmed by the FIA during November, prior to the Event.

The Event is held over four days (Thursday to Sunday, inclusive) with track activity often occurring prior to Thursday. The Event has afternoon racing with completion generally around 1800 hours.

 

There are a number of facilities, which are required to be completed prior to the commencement of the Event.

 

Construction of the necessary infrastructure to support the Event is carried out over approximately a nine week period. The dismantling and removal will take place immediately following the Event and is to be completed within the timeframe set out in the relevant Oval Occupation Programme, Road Closure Schedule and the Construction Programme. All dismantling works (including final site facilities and final clean) are to be completed within four weeks of the Event.

 

During both the construction and dismantling phase, Albert Park is a public place. All Contractors are required to take this into consideration whilst working within the Park.

 

The Scope of Work shall include all labour, materials, plant and equipment necessary to supply on hire, deliver to site, erection, maintenance and removal of elevated platforms.

The works under this Contract shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Preliminaries, including provision of own site facilities;
  • Preparation and implementation of contract HSE Plan and detailed construction schedules;
  • Review and acceptance of survey data provided by others, including location of underground services;
  • Erection of elevated platforms as described in schedule a and as amended by the corporation for each event;
  • Provision of stairs, handrails, TV posts and accessories as required and described in the drawings;
  • Necessary provision for overlayed floor systems to achieve 5 Kpa design loading and any point loads arising from the structure’s intended purpose;
  • Cooperation and coordination with other Contractors;
  • Continuously monitor and maintain installed Works, rectification of defects as identified by the Superintendent;
  • Continuously keep the Site and Albert Park clean of construction and general debris;
  • Provision of all facilities, crane usage, hoisting, scaffolding, shoring, protective screens and hoardings and other temporary works as may be necessary;
  • Installation of Works Area Signage; Note that initial installation and final removal of fencing of the Works area will be provided by others. Removal and reinstatement of fencing by the end of each shift and whilst the Works are being carried out, are included in the Works;
  • Compliance with DDA requirements and other relevant standards.
  • Provision of all design certification, compliance certification and any other required statutory documentation;
  • Provision of a standby crew during the event period for maintenance and rectification;
  • Provision of shop drawings and as built drawings required by the Specification or as otherwise necessary;
  • Dismantle and continuous cleaning of the sites;
