West Arnhem Regional Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Independent Chair of its Risk and Audit Committee.
The Risk and Audit Committee is an advisory team responsible for monitoring compliance of Council against proper standards of financial management and Local Government (Accounting) Regulations. The Committee meets quarterly to review and provider considered advice to the CEO with the required qualifications of accountant holding a current accounting certification (CPA or CA). Experience in the following areas is also essential:
- Risk Management procedures
- Internal Audit Assessments as they relate risk management processes
- Annual financial reporting
- External Audit
Knowledge and experience with the Local Government Act and Accounting Regulation is highly desirable as is previous experience working with Risk and Audit Committees.
Remuneration is set at the C1 daily rate identified in the NT Government remuneration of Board Members. The Risk and Audit Committee policy is available for download the Councils website.
