Geo Rock Garden Park Committee

⁠⁠⁠The Shire of Mount Magnet has resolved to establish a community based Geo Rock Garden Park Committee for the purpose of assisting Council in the design and development of a Geo Rock Garden to be located at the northern end of Federation Park. The design of a Geo Rock Garden Park is very much in the concept stage and where a section of Federation Park is intended to be utilised for the development of the project. In this regard Council is seeking input from the Committee that will recommend design options for the project that Council can consider as follows:

• Develop a design and survey plan,
• Research the particular type of rock for location in the Geo Rock Garden Park,
• Site preparation requirements using Council plant, and
• provision of any community infrastructure such as seating, benches, tables etc

The Shire of Mount Magnet is seeking Expressions of Interest from the local community business and non business sector who may be interested in forming the Geo Rock Garden Park Committee to assist Council in the design, planning and development of the proposed Geo Rock Garden Park. The purpose of establishing the Geo Rock Garden Park is to enhance the many geo sites that exist not only in the Shire of Mount Magnet District, but also in the Murchison Region. The Geo Rock Garden Park will also build upon the recently
completed Murchison Geo Tourism Plan and Councils Strategic Community Plan 2019 – 2029.

There is no specific selection criteria for membership of the proposed committee other than a passion and interest for geo science as a tourism based industry. Interested person(s) or businesses are requested to send a brief Resume that outlines their interest in the proposed 2020 Geo Rock Garden Park Committee and any expertise they can bring to the committee. Ultimately the Shire of Mount Magnet will consider all expressions of interest received and make the final decision.
