National Co-ordinator: Demonstrating Beef Sustainability Credentials and Fostering Practice Change
Tender ID: 423235
Tender Details
Tender Description
MLA is seeking proposals from suitably qualified individuals or organisations to act as a National Co-ordinator for the project Demonstrating Beef Sustainability Credentials and Fostering Practice Change.
Customers and other industry stakeholders are increasingly looking for evidence of sustainable production practices. A challenge for beef producers and supply chains is recognition of their sustainability credentials without common standards and a common reporting system. The system must also support a pathway that fosters continuous improvement in production practices. Without a coordinated approach, fragmented best management approaches and market schemes will continue to persist.
Using a co-development process that directly engages stakeholders, this project will deliver a National, opt-in system for demonstrating land management and sustainability credentials. The platform will provide a solution for producers wishing to demonstrate sustainability performance to various markets against five areas:
- Vegetation management
- Ground cover and soil conservation
- Biodiversity stewardship
- Carbon balance
- Climate resilience
This project is a partnership between MLA, University of Queensland and WWF-Australia and is funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, Smart Farming Partnerships Grant.
Application must be received by Sunday, 5 July 2020.
