Tender Description
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (AWE), Commonwealth Environmental Water Office (CEWO) and Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) are establishing the Murray- Darling Water and Environment Research Program.
The Program will invest in applied research to be delivered over a four-year period (2020 – 2024) to strengthen scientific knowledge of the Murray-Darling Basin, helping inform water and environment management decisions to improve outcomes for the Basin and communities.
The Commonwealth has identified priority research questions across four theme areas, including; Climate Change, Social, Economic and Cultural Outcomes, Environmental Outcomes and Hydrology.
A Research Prospectus has been developed and MDBA will soon commence a procurement process to assist in delivering the applied research component of the Program.
Submissions will be sought from collaborative, multi-disciplinary and multi-institution/organisation/s consortia or groups with an identified lead agency. Potential Tenderers will be able to apply for one or more of the theme areas; with consortia being selected based on their capability and experience to deliver against the research priorities.
Successful consortia will be engaged under a two stage agreement:
• Stage 1: Appointment of consortia to participate in a co-design process to develop Research Implementation Plans in collaboration with the Commonwealth. This co-design stage will take place over a period of up to three months. Acceptance of the Research Implementation Plans by the MDBA is required before proceeding to Stage 2.
• Stage 2: Implementing the Research Implementation Plan during the latter half of the 2020-21 financial year to the 2023-24 financial year.
