Tender Description
Rio Tinto Iron Ore Pilbara Rail Network comprises in excess of 1700km of rail infrastructure and over 2500 culverts. Detailed Visual (Level 2) inspections of all culverts undertaken on a bi-annual basis have identified approximately 50 locations where specialised culvert cleaning works are required to remove heavy sediment and/or blockages. These works will be conducted as a project in addition to regular maintenance and clearing works.
The objective of the remedial works is to reinstate the integrity of the culverts to support the operation of the rail network
The locations requiring remediation span across Cape Lambert Port, Dampier Port to Tom Price, Greater Brockman and West Angela’s. Typically, culverts comprise of predominately corrugated steel pipe (Heli-cor or Multi-plate) and range from 450mm diameter. To 3300mm diameter and from 10m to 65m in length.
Rio Tinto is seeking interested parties to present innovative and cost effective solutions for the clearing of culverts across the network with consideration of the following;
- Limited availability to water (large transport distances);
- Offsite environmental impacts to water ways and sensitive heritage areas;
- Requirement to work in confined spaces
- Consideration for the management and/or reduction of risk;
- Difficult access to locations;
Works performed by the contractor will include;
- All planning and project management requirements (Gantts, Detailed Methodology, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) & Signoff)
- Site visits and associated site meetings with the company as required;
- Mobilisation of required personnel to site;
- Supply and mobilisation of all equipment and machinery sufficient to achieve objectives;
- Provide suitable Work as Executed plans where requested. (QA Forms / Processes to be supplied)
- Demobilisation, ensuring site is sufficiently clean and left in acceptable state.
The successful contractor should provide evidence of previous experience, evidence of innovation in their class to reduce either time or cost and a record of sound safety performance.
