The City of Kingston is one of Melbourne's most diverse and interesting municipalities with an expanding population of over 141,000 residents. It comprises a variety of features including 13 km of beachfront, conservation areas and wetlands. It also has numerous thriving industrial and commercial centres, Moorabbin Airport, major retail complexes such as Westfield Southland, and several busy village style shopping centres.
Council has an objective to protect, manage, maintain, and improve the quality of Kingston's formal and informal public open spaces including:
- foreshore areas;
- foreshore natural environment;
- extensive open space areas and sports fields;
- associated public amenities and;
- associated streetscapes and landscapes;
Council is responsible for management of these areas and associated Assets to ensure they are maintained in a safe, serviceable, clean, functional and tidy condition to maximise their life, and to ensure provision of a high level of service to the community.
