Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Council is now inviting Tenders for the provision of Natural Areas Vegetation Management in three (3) categories for a period of 2 years. At Council's sole discretion, the contract may be extended for a further period of 12 months.


Council seeks soundly qualified companies with excellent service and a strong commitment to meet program aims. Successful tenderers will require a good understanding of Council as an organisation and of its responsibilities under the Local Government Act 1993.

The three (3) categories of works in this tender are:

  •  Category 1- Bush Regeneration (Reserves)

Brief Summary of works:
Hornsby Shire Council requires contractors to undertake bush regeneration works, involving strategic weed control, revegetation, seed collection, soil stabilisation, stormwater control and exclusion barrier installation. Furthermore, the strategic planning, communication, monitoring and reporting on the progress of work is an important element of the contract.

  •  Category 2 -Stormwater Quality Improvement Devices

Brief summary of works:
Hornsby Shire Council requires contractors to undertake landscape maintenance and bush regeneration around and within selected sediment basins, gross pollutant traps (GPTs), landfill leachate control, wetlands, biofilters, and creek rehabilitation - collectively referred to as Stormwater Quality Improvement Devices (SQIDs), with the aim to remediate these areas and create habitat connections with adjacent bushland and riparian zones.

  •  Category 3 - Manual Bushfire Hazard Reduction

Brief summary of works:
Hornsby Shire Council requires contractors to undertake manual bushfire hazard reduction works made up of a combination of treatment types. On ground works within this contract require the contractor to:

  •  Create/maintain Asset Protection Zones (APZ)
  •  Create/maintain Works Access Lines (WAL)
  •  Reduce fuel hazards on sites originating from reactive Bushfire Hazard Complaints
  •  Maintain vegetation around fire trials
  •  Prepare sites for hazard reduction burns

The following tasks are commonly carried out using manual and mechanical methods:

  •  Fuel reduction (weed and native)
  •  Weed control
  •  Bush regeneration
  •  Create and or install mineral earth lines
  •  Pre-burn vegetation (fuel) treatment
  •  Stabilisation works (erosion control, capping)
  •  Planting/direct seeding

Council reserves the right to award the business to one contractor or a panel of contractors qualified to provide these Services/Goods. Where the business is awarded to a panel of contractors, Council may exercise its option to extend the contract with one, many or all
panellists.
