Slab compactor

⁠⁠⁠The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for TMRPMG 05 1920.

Purchase and delivery of segmental wheel compactor suitable for compacting slabs of hot-mix asphalt, granular materials and stabilised materials.

Segmental wheel compactor suitable for compacting slabs of hot-mix asphalt, granular materials and stabilised materials. Complying with EN 12697-33 Bituminous Mixtures - Test Methods For Hot Mix Asphalt - Part 33: Specimen Prepared By Roller Compactor, Method 5.2 or ASTM D8079 Standard Practice for Preparation of Compacted Slab Asphalt Mix Samples Using a Segmented Rolling Compactor.

The mandatory requirements are:

Segmental wheel compactor consisting of the following:

• Compaction device, capable of applying a loading of 1000 to 30,000 N to within 500 N, with the option for vibratory compaction and sufficiently rigid that it will not deform under load over the operating range.
• The compaction device will be in the form of a freely rotating wheel segment. The compaction foot needs to be vertically moveable and set to a specified height above the base of the compaction mould.
• Compaction table, having an oscillating speed of 10 to 25 oscillations per minute adjustable to within 1 oscillation per minute, and a travel of 200 to 450 mm adjustable to within 5 mm.
• The table will have provision to attach the compaction mould.

Compaction moulds as follows:

• 4 x metal moulds of internal dimensions 300 mm length, 300 mm width and 100 mm height with detachable collar.
• 2 x metal moulds of internal dimensions 400 mm length, 300 mm width and 100 mm height with detachable collar.
• Safety guards or sliding covers for moving parts would be desirable.
• Having moulds capable of being fitted to a Coopers wheel tracker for testing would be desirable.
• Options for heating compaction foot and moulds would be desirable.
