Coastcare Coordinator - West Coast

⁠⁠⁠The Waikato Regional Council (the Council) is seeking quotes from suitably qualified individuals or organisations to coordinate Coastcare projects on the West Coast of the Waikato Region. The Council’s Coastcare programme (est. 1992) involves partnerships between the Council, territorial authorities and community members to protect and restore coastal environments, such as dunes, estuaries, coastal forests and coastal wetlands. Coastcare plays an integral part in raising environmental awareness, education and advocacy for coastal environments.

The Coastcare Coordinator will facilitate and support Coastcare restoration projects at existing Coastcare sites as well as foster the development of new Coastcare projects over time. The West Coast Coordinator will initially be working on 15 sites ranging from Port Waikato to Awakino, with options to develop new projects and innovative approaches.

The contract for the Coastcare Coordinator West Coast will consist of a two-year contract term with one additional year by negotiation. The nature of this work requires the contractor to have flexible work hours, including the ability to work weekends to fit in with community group needs.
