Tender Description
Tenders will shortly be invited from boat builder contractors for the design, construction and delivery of a new, fit-for-purpose, Offshore Police Patrol Vessel (OPVV). The vessel will be:
a. Between 22 metres and 23.99 metres in measured length;
b. Aluminium construction;
c. Propelled by two diesel engines;
d. Designed and constructed to meet AMSA 2B and IE Survey requirements.
The vessel will have the following operational functions:
- Search and rescue response
- Marine Safety enforcement - including intercepting, boarding and inspection of recreational and commercial vessels
- Protection of State marine and fisheries resources, including patrols to enforce the provisions of the Living Marine Resource Management Act 1995 and subordinate legislation, which include patrolling Commonwealth and State Marine Reserves
- Medical evacuations and transportation of sick and injured persons
- Transportation and movement of people and equipment
- Assisting and/or towing damaged or disabled vessels
- Diving and body recovery platform
- Support for aerial operations
- State security marine operations platform
These functions will be performed in all coastal and offshore Tasmanian waters, including Bass Strait, up to 200 nautical miles from the coast, in extreme weather and sea conditions.
