Tender Details
Tender Description
Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities under Ports North ownership and management in Cairns and its regional ports, including the Port of Thursday Island.
The Horn Island cargo facilities are a critical component of the Torres Strait community. The existing cargo wharf, barge ramp and access road require infrastructure upgrades to accommodate increased trade and vessel sizes. As part of this infrastructure upgrade Ports North intends to deliver the following works:
- Construction of a new wharf berthing dolphin, consisting of a concrete headstock, 7m x 8m x 2m supported on five 900mm diameter steel piles.
- Supply and installation of a cone fender and fender panel
- Upgrades to the existing mooring bollards
- Construction of a new reinforced concrete barge ramp (approximately 420m2, 275mm thick) as an extension to the existing ramp.
- Construction of a reinforced concrete access road on the existing causeway, (approximately 600m2, 300mm thick with edge thickenings), including earthworks to achieve suitable grading
Ports North invites tenders from suitably qualified and available marine Contractors, with appropriate experience in building construction in the Torres Region for the delivery of this project.
