Tender Description
The department is providing new funding to establish new services responding to youth sexual violence in Cairns.
The new Counselling and Case Management Support Service will deliver a trauma-informed, developmentally-sensitive and culturally-safe counselling and case management support for children and young people aged 12 to 17 years who have experienced sexual violence and / or exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours. The service will –
- adhere to the principles and guidance articulated in the Queensland Government Interagency Guidelines for Responding to People who have Experienced Sexual Assault;
- work with children and young people both inside and external to the statutory child protection system, their families, kin, caregivers and/or carers;
- support children and young people to overcome their experience of sexual violence and abuse, lessen their trauma, and prevent negative impacts on their self-esteem, confidence and future relationships;
- change behaviour, reduce harm and prevent offending amongst children and young people who are exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours.
