Tender Description

In November last year, Council called for expressions of interest from Morpeth based residents or businesses to be part of the Morpeth Bicentenary Working Group, however only two submissions were received. Council is now reopening the expression of interest period, in conjunction with a targeted campaign in Morpeth to encourage interest in the process.

In 2019, Council resolved to take a lead role in organising bicentenary celebrations for the township of Morpeth, which will occur in November 2021. The MBWG, will undertake preliminary scoping to form options as to how the bicentenary could be commemorated. The Group will be tasked with developing a project proposal that will be reported to the new Council, following the September 2020 Council elections, for determination.

Council’s Executive Manager Vibrant City Rachel MacLucas says, ‘This is a chance for Morpeth based residents and businesses to have their say on what might be possible to commemorate the bicentenary of Morpeth.

‘The first time around we didn’t receive enough nominations from the Morpeth community for the working group, but we believe there is significant community interest around the Bicentenary, so we’d like to see a diverse group of people submit an EOI for assessment’.
