Tender Description

This Tender is invited by the Issuer.

The request seeks to engage experienced sellers who can conduct a technical validation of a Skills Classification developed by the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business (‘the department’) and advise whether the methodology used in its creation was robust.

The department has developed a data-driven Australian Skills Classification (Skills Classification) which systematically sets out the core skills, specialised skills, technical tasks and technology tools required for 591 occupations in Australia.

The Skills Classification aims to reflect the current Australian labour market with an emphasis on the transferability of skills across occupations.
The project intended to develop the skills classification in a data-driven way (without primary data collection such as surveys). After careful analysis of existing data sets and classification system, the department concluded that using the American Occupation Information Network (O*Net) occupational database as a starting point, and translating it into the Australian context represented the best approach

Deliverables will include a formal document addressing the following:
1. An assessment of the suitability of the approach taken to adapting the American Occupation Information Network (O*Net) to the Australian context.
2. An assessment of the relevance and usefulness of the results.
3. Potential improvements to the approach.
