The works scope generally covers a 500m section of the Kywong – Howlong Road between Walbundrie and Brocklesby. Provisionally the construction of earthworks may continue for a further 500m to allow for future works.
This road was originally constructed with sections on fill to bring it above the surrounding natural surface. This embankment was constructed with steep batters and with a width that is not suitable for modern standards.
The works includes the re-construction of the road pavement, drainage and bulk earthworks. Contractors should be aware that the works are located on a relatively busy road with a significant proportion of heavy vehicles. Appropriate works management and careful traffic control will be a significant requirement of this project.
A non-compulsory pre-tender meeting will be held on site at 10am on Thursday, 5 December 2019. Prospective tenderers are advised to attend this meeting.
