Tender Description
The AFRM Assessment Committee seeks expressions of interest from Fellows to coordinate Long Case Assessments for the Faculty.
The Long Case Assessment (LCA) Coordinator is a member of the AFRM Assessment Committee, a sub-committee of the AFRM Education Committee. The LCA Coordinator is responsible to the Chair of the Assessment Committee who reports to the AFRM Education Committee.
About the position
- develop, coordinate and implement the procedures of the AFRM in relation to formal long case assessments and in-training long case assessments
- certify the accreditation of Long Case Assessors through the convening of LCA Calibration Sessions
- ensure that LCA Calibration Sessions are fully resourced, conducted annually in different locations and are accessible by Fellows
- annually undertake a review of LCA accreditation so that Fellows, who are required to conduct LCA Calibration Sessions, can be advised at the beginning of the year
Members of the Committee are appointed for a period of 2 years, which can be renewed every 2 years up to a maximum of 6 years.
The LCA Coordinator will be required to attend 6 Assessment Subcommittee meetings: 1 face-to-face meeting and 5 teleconferences.
Key responsibilities
- report to the Faculty Assessment Subcommittee
- convene LCA Calibration Sessions for supervisors
- review the Long Case Assessor List to ensure contact details correct
- review the Long Case Assessor List to ensure requirements for accreditation are met
- monitor and regularly review the LCA policies and procedures, both formal and in-training long case assessment
Selection criteria
- demonstrated understanding of the curricula and training requirements of the AFRM Training Programs
- demonstrated understanding of the medical education environment
- experience and demonstrated effectiveness in conducting workshops and training sessions
- attitudes of cooperation and positivity and high standards of ethical behaviours
- commitment to quality assurance and continuous development
- demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills
- considerable planning and organisational skills
