Loemans Road & Shepherds Lane WPS Redundancy Pumps Project

Western Water is intending to release an Expression of Interest in December 2019 prior to a Request for Tender in January 2020 for the installation of additional pumps at Loemans Road and Shepherds Lane Water Pump Stations near Sunbury, Victoria.

The Loemans Road and Shepherds Lane WPSs are critical facilities in the supply of drinking water to the Sunbury area. Both pump stations have since undergone upgrades to keep in step with growth and Western Water’s operational requirements since their constructed in 1999/2000. They have a capacity to pump a maximum of 35ML/day

Each pump station has two pumps, initially design to operate in a duty/standby configuration. As the population has increased, the two pumps in each pump stations are required to operate duty/duty during periods of high demand. With no pumping redundancy, pump failure at either pump station during periods of high demand will result in loss of or reduced water supply to the Sunbury Township and to the Rosslynne water supply network via the northern transfer system.

The forth-coming expression of interest is intended for Western Water to identify suitable contractors to undertake the upgrade works, comprising pump and pipe installation/modification and EI&C installation and programming.

Questions during the EOI period are encouraged and can be directed via the official tender publication on the Tenders VIC website.

The EOI is expected to conclude with the selection of preferred registrants that will be asked to submit a formal tender response. The successful tenderer would be engaged under Western Water's AS2148 contract.
