Lake Macquarie City Council is calling for expressions of interest from the community to join the Awaba House Revitalisation Community Reference Group to share ideas and consider options for the future of Awaba House.
Council’s Manager Property and Business Development David Antcliff said this is an exciting opportunity to be instrumental in the future of Awaba House.
“We are seeking community representatives with skills and experience in relevant areas such as design, construction, hospitality or tourism, and willingness to contribute ideas and explore future opportunities for this site,” Mr Antcliff said.
“Community input into the way forward for the site is crucial in determining the best outcomes for the City. Being part of the Reference Group is a great opportunity to have input into a landmark plan that will pave the way for our community and visitors into the future.”
The Reference Group will comprise of a community chairperson, eight community members, including at least one member of the Lake Macquarie Aboriginal community, and Council staff.
Awaba House, located at Booragul, was affected by fire on Tuesday 20 August 2019.
