CX11256 Bendora Renewals
The Bendora Dam forms part of the raw water supply system to the ACT and is in a remote location west of central Canberra in the Namadgi National Park. Bendora Dam is a double curvature concrete arch dam with spillway, intake tower and associated infrastructure.
Construction was completed in 1961 and has not undergone any major upgrades.
Dam deformation monitoring is carried out annually using survey markers and monitoring targets that currently require specialist rope access to carry out this work. The survey methodology needs to be upgraded to remove the rope access requirement for completing monitoring.
Routine maintenance activities occur at Bendora Dam. The spillway bridge requires upgrades to safely facilitate these ongoing routine maintenance works.
The Bendora spillway bridge and downstream bridge have defects due to degradation. These defects require remedial works to enhance durability of the bridges.
The Scope is formed by six individual work packages listed below:
- Work Package 1 Bendora Intake Tower Top Level Hand railing Upgrade
- Work Package 2 Survey Asset Upgrade
- Work Package 3 West Abutment Hard Stand Area and Road Markings on Spillway Bridge
- Work Package 4 Remedial Works on Spillway Bridge
- Work Package 5 Repair of Downstream Bridge Pier Foundations
- Work Package 6 Bendora Gallery Manhole Cover Upgrade
