Project Overview
The City Renewal Authority (City Renewal) seeks to engage a qualified Head Contractor for the Garema Place Stage 2, City Walk West works.
The contractor will carry out destructive and non-destructive site investigations, prepare for-construction documentation, and deliver the City Walk West landscape upgrades.
The work will be delivered under a two-stage GC21 Two Phase Design and Construct contract.
City Walk West is located at the western end of Garema Place. It is bounded by East Row and Mort Street to the west and central Garema Place to the east.
The existing site includes pedestrian footpaths, vehicle access to Saraton Lane, at-grade parking, and public amenity, including outdoor dining used by local businesses and seating used by the general public. Refer to Image 1 for the site extent.
SCOPE OF WORK
Overview of Engagement
The scope of work must be read in conjunction with all tender drawings and documentation.
The Head Contractor will deliver all services required to develop the design, plan works, complete demolition and construction, commission assets, and obtain all authority and utility approvals.
The outcome must support a defect-free handover to the Principal.
The scope includes detailed design and construction of:
• Electrical works, including cabling, enabling infrastructure for CCTV (poles and conduits), public and feature lighting, Wi-Fi and WAPs, speakers (incl. future), power outlets.
• Stormwater upgrades, including pits, pipes, and drainage grates
• Paving and concrete upgrades along City Walk between East Row and Garema Place
• Planter beds, planting, and irrigation
• Seating, bollards, and bike racks
• Other works to improve safety, wayfinding, and use of the space, including signage, power outlets, and bike racks
The Head Contractor and team must coordinate with DCBR to include enabling infrastructure in the design and to support installation during construction.
The Head Contractor’s program must allow for DCBR site inspections, design coordination, installation, and commissioning. The Head Contractor must engage with DCBR early and maintain coordination to meet design and installation lead times of 21 calendar days.
Tender briefing/Site Visit
A briefing session will be held at Near Capital Pathology Civic Garema Place, Canberra City, Australian Capital Territory, Australia, 2601 on 14 July 2026 11:00 am.
Notes: Non-compulsory site inspection and tender briefing session will be held to provide prospective tenderers with an overview of the project scope, site conditions, and to address any queries related to the tender documentation.
A site visit is a pre-requisite to submission and consideration of a bid.
