Tender ID: 402485
Tender Details
Tender Description
Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports.
PN owns and maintains the Cairns Marlin Marina. The Marina consists of floating pontoon systems protected by an outer wave screen structure. Various floating pontoon systems have been constructed in the Marina over a period of time from 1980 to 2011. It follows that the condition of the pontoon asset varies throughout the marina with maintenance required to several key components.
The majority of the pontoon systems consist of polystyrene filled, concrete encased floatation units supported by timber whalers and galvanised through bolts with steel knee braces at walkway/finger connections. Steel pile guides are used to secure the pontoon systems to steel and concrete piles.
In general the works are to be undertaken on Marlin Marina D, E and F finger facilities. The scope of works includes the replacement of pile guides (approximately 8), knee brackets incorporating pile guides (approximately 20), knee brackets (approximately 55) mooring cleats (approximately 60), timber whalers, through bolts and various other components of the pontoon systems.
The Contract is based on Australian Standard 4920-2003 General Conditions of Contract for the Provision of Asset Maintenance and Services with Special Conditions of Contract included. The works will be delivered over a period of three financial years.
PN requests Tender Submissions from suitably qualified and available Contractors with appropriate experience in the maintenance of floating pontoon systems for the provision of these works. Works are within an operational marina and include the provision of appropriate access and environmental controls in the tidal zone. Staging and programming of the works will be critical to the safe and successful delivery of the works whilst minimising disruption to berth users.
