Tender Description
Due to ongoing pavement failure, the treatment sections require additional basecourse thickness to protect the subgrade and provide suitable high shear strength material in the upper pavement.
- Rehabilitation involves the construction of a 150mm minimum thickness basecourse overlay over the Centre Line to obtain 3% crossfall, the overlay is then 'run out' over the parking lanes and matched in to the existing kerb lip.
- Construction will require the removal of old thick layers of surfacing prior to overlay, and scarification of the parking lanes to allow workability of the match-in aggregate.
- Longitudinal match-ins (near Glover Road, Grey Street and Collins Street) will require excavation and replacement of aggregate (rip and scarify), to ensure that enough aggregate thickness is constructed.
- The Roundabout at the intersection of Collins and High Street will also require a reseal, to the roundabout ends of the traffic islands on High Street and to the State Highway end of the island on Collins Street.
- The Contractor is required to survey the treatment length and propose a 'top surface' level layout which is informed by the client's pavement design. Crossing breakover angles will also require checking after the site survey.
- Construction of 'ramped crossings' may be required in places. Following the Engineer's approval, the Contractor will set out the design and monitor the constructed levels.
