The Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) are commissioning a sculptural memorial artwork for the Recognition of Fallen Personnel.

The Commission is open to contemporary Australian artists, artist’s collective or artist’s consortium. If the submission is from a collective or consortium, at least one representative must be an Australian citizen or resident

To date, DELWP have identified 130 people. 73 people who died whilst undertaking emergency response work (predominantly forest fire fighting) and 57 people who have died as a consequence of a work-related injury.

Please note, artist’s applying for the sculpture commission are welcome to apply for the Honour Roll commission.

Designer/ Maker Brief - Recognition of Fallen Personnel Memorial Honour Rolls:

The Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) are commissioning an Honour Roll for the Recognition of Fallen Personnel.

The Recognition of Fallen Personnel Honour Roll is a response by DELWP to recognise, honour and commemorate our colleagues at DELWP, and our precursor organisations, who have died as a consequence of a work-related injury.

To date, DELWP have identified 130 people. 73 people who died whilst undertaking emergency response work (predominantly forest fire fighting) and 57 people who have died as a consequence of a work-related injury.

DELWP is currently undertaking historic research to identify additional people. It is anticipated the number of fallen personnel to be recognised will change.

The Honour Board must record the first and last names of our Fallen Personnel. No decision has been reached on recording sates. Incident details will not be recorded on the Honour Roll.

DELWP is separately commissioning a sculptural memorial. The memorial is expected to be completed by May 2020.

Submissions must be received by no later than 2:00 pm 14 November 2019

Late or facsimile submissions will not be accepted.

Applicants wishing to submit a hard copy response must submit an email by the closing date that clearly states a hard copy response is being submitted. The email response must not substantially differ from the hard copy response.
