Sport New Zealand (Ihi Aotearoa) are conducting a feasibility study into the proposed establishment of a ‘Complaints Management and/or Dispute Resolution Service’ for the New Zealand Sports System.
A significant amount of work is being undertaken by Sport NZ in the area of sport integrity, and the feasibility study will make an important contribution to this work programme.
On behalf of the government, Sport NZ undertook a Sport Integrity Review. While New Zealand has various initiatives in place to protect and promote the integrity of sport, the environment indicated a review was needed to determine whether existing measures are fit-for-purpose and to identify potential gaps. It considered New Zealand sport from the elite to the grassroots levels, and the review took a two phased approach.
This RFP builds upon Sport New Zealand’s organisational strategy and particularly, its commitment to implement the recommendations arising from the Sport Integrity review, the Cottrell report which reviewed ‘Elite Athletes Rights and Welfare’ and the reviews into cycling and football.
More specifically the findings of the Sport Integrity Review provides for a feasibility study into the establishment of a complaints management and/or dispute resolution service (CMDRS) for the New Zealand sports system.
