Tender Description
The Rookwood Weir and Associated Infrastructure project involves the construction of a new water storage facility on the Fitzroy River, approximately 66 kilometres south-west of Rockhampton in Central Queensland. The development was identified in the Central Queensland Regional Water Supply Strategy to help meet future urban agricultural and industrial water demand in Rockhampton, Gladstone and the Capricorn Coast.
The project encompasses:
- construction of the Rookwood Weir and associated ancillary infrastructure
- upgrading Thirsty Creek Road and the intersection with the Capricorn Highway at Gogango
- construction of bridges and a low level culvert crossing.
Once constructed, Rookwood Weir will supply water for the region - a resource that will support local economic growth by providing water for future agricultural diversification, industrial development and improved water security for Rockhampton, Gladstone and the Capricorn Coast.
The Rookwood Weir project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments.
