Tender Description

Alpine Shire Council and Mount Hotham Ski Company are keen to identify alternatives to the current use of drinking water for snowmaking infrastructure at the Dinner Plain Village ski area.

Future expansion of snowmaking infrastructure to the existing toboggan slope will improve resilience of the Village economy by safe-guarding the snow recreation facilities that are an important driver for winter tourism at Dinner Plain. Currently expansion of snowmaking infrastructure is not feasible due to use of potable water and subsequent environmental and economic unsustainability.

The project will identify and analyse options for provision of water for snowmaking. A business case will be developed for the preferred water supply option. A concept design will be included in the business case if the preferred option requires new infrastructure. The project will also scope potential shared financial cost structures and identify options for funding support.
