Tender Description

The Australian Opal Centre (AOC) is a national museum and multipurpose facility being developed in the outback opal mining town of Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, as the world's leading provider of opal-related knowledge, certification, education, training, scientific research, industry development, heritage, arts, travel and culture. The AOC will preserve, display and research the world's premier public collection of Australian opal (Australia's National Gemstone), opalised fossils and the colourful history and heritage of the Australian opal fields.

A new AOC building is being designed by Sydney-based architects Glenn Murcutt and Wendy Lewin for the not-for-profit organisation Lightning Ridge Opal and Fossil Centre Incorporated (LROFC). The project will be fully documented, then construction procured via a Head Contract using an AS4000 or equivalent form of contract.

LROFC seeks to engage a Project Manager to participate in design development, assist with cost and value engineering, engage and coordinate the required external consultants and manage the construction works contract on behalf of LROFC. The contract for the Project Manager will be based on AS4915 - 2002.

The project is funded through a combination of Commonwealth and NSW Government grant funding, a Walgett Shire Council contribution and funds raised by the AOC/LROFC.

This EOI closes at 4pm, 28 August 2019.
