Capital Health Network (CHN) welcomes applications from general practices in the ACT region to apply for funding through the Pharmacist in General Practice Program. This program will provide funding to successful practices to employ a Pharmacist for 15 hours per week over an eighteen-month period.
The benefits of utilising non-dispensing pharmacists in three local general practices was originally evaluated through a pilot administered by CHN, through the ACT PHN programme in 2016 – 2018.
The evaluation of this pilot was conducted by the University of Canberra, which demonstrated benefits and improved quality use of medicine outcomes for consumers, increased role satisfaction for the pharmacists involved and additional support for GPs.
Building on the findings and success of the Pharmacist in General Practice Pilot, an EOI process was held in the last quarter of 2018 with four practices selected to participate in the program which is currently underway. CHN has funding to support a further four general practices to employ a part-time non-dispensing pharmacist for a minimum of 15 hours per week, for an eighteen-month period.
CHN is seeking an Expression of Interest from General Practices who wish to be considered as one of four practices for participation in the Pharmacist in General Practice Program.
The EOI process commences Thursday, 11 July 2019.
The closing date and time for this EOI is 5:00pm Thursday, 1 August 2019.
