Tender Released for Stage 1 Tumut Pool Upgrade
Tumut swimmers can look forward to a very different welcome this summer with Snowy Valleys Council releasing Stage 1 of the Tumut Pool upgrade for tender this week.
Director of Assets and Infrastructure Matt Christensen says Council is looking forward to engaging contractors so construction can get underway by spring.
“This first stage of the redevelopment will see the entry to Tumut Pool relocated to the car park end of the facility. Entrance to the pool will be via an accessible ramp leading from the upgraded Richmond Street Carpark up to a modern new entry building.
“The amenity block will include an office and canteen as well as male and female toilets, showers and change rooms. We envisage that work will commence by September and the project will be completed by the end of this year,” he said.
Mr Christensen says whilst future stages of the masterplan have been accounted for, they are not funded at this stage.
“The Stage 1 pool upgrade does not incorporate toilets for external use by patrons of Pioneer Park, but we are currently investigating funding options to have additional toilets purpose built for the park.
“Our aim is for the new-look entry to cement the Tumut Pool as a highly valuable asset for the community and provide opportunity for future expansion,” Mr Christensen said.
Funding of $1,008,000 was allocated for the project from the NSW Government’s Major Projects Infrastructure Fund.
