Tender Details
Tender Description
Zoos Victoria is a not for profit zoo-based conservation organisation. Zoos Victoria is a statutory entity, established through the Zoological Parks and Gardens Act 1995, and has responsibility for the Royal Melbourne Zoological Garden, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Open Range Zoo. Zoos Victoria is also mandated under the Act to carry out and promote zoological research and conservation of wildlife and its natural habitats, and the maintenance of biodiversity.
Zoos Victoria is partnering with Parks Victoria to support the restoration of high value habitat in Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve (YNCR), a public reserve managed by Parks Victoria (see attached Map 1). This project will assist the renewal of vegetation, particularly the nationally significant Sedge-rich Eucalyptus camphora Swamp Community and other resources within the reserve, thus supporting recovery actions for the critically endangered Leadbeater's Possum, Helmeted Honeyeater, and other resident native species.
Construction of a habitat protection fence (HPF), capable of excluding deer and wallabies, is key to achieving this aim. Zoos Victoria invites fencing construction specialists with a proven track record in construction of herbivore-exclusion fencing to submit a proposal for the construction of the HPF within Yellingbo NCR according to the specifications included as Part A.2 of this RFT. In line with Zoos Victoria's commitment to preserving environmental assets, the successful tenderer will have a comprehensive Environmental Management System and approach in place. The tender evaluation panel will consist of representatives from Zoos Victoria and Parks Victoria.
