Department of Industry is seeking to engage a specialist contractor to carry out the Great Artesian Basin Bore Survey Round 2. The implementation of bore capping programs across the Great Artesian Basin has resulted in significant pressure increases of up to 10 m. This has led to a situation where bores which previously had ceased flowing are now flowing again.
It is anticipated that more than 300 bores will restart flowing in the future as further pressure recovery occurs. This is an emerging issue in the GAB which must be addressed in future infrastructure and water management strategies. The appointed contractor(s) will be required to undertake field inspections to collect the required data, including: in-situ and laboratory water quality data, water level/pressure/flow data, and bore/associated infrastructure information. The contractor(s) will also survey stakeholders to assess historic bore discharges and future domestic and stock requirements.
