Tender Description
The DTA seeks expressions of interest from vendors capable of designing, building, hosting and maintaining a secure Domain Name Administration Portal, replacing an existing service at https://www.domainname.gov.au.
The DTA is responsible for the design, development, coordination and delivery of platforms for whole-of-government and shared ICT and digital service delivery. The administration of .gov.au domain names (and related policies) is a fundamental element of these functions. Simplifying the management of the Commonwealth’s domain name space is a key activity in the DTA's 2018-2022 corporate plan (https://www.dta.gov.au/about-us/reporting-and-plans/corporate-plans/corporate-plan-2018-22), aligned with the delivery of whole-of-government digital platforms.
DTA is the registrar for the.gov.au space, and works closely with states and territories to ensure approximately 5000 third-level and fourth-level .gov.au domains are registered and managed securely.
A secure, authoritative domain administration service is critical to the reliability and reputation of the .gov.au space and the delivery of digital services by Australian government agencies.
Current administration processes rely primarily on manual activities performed by DTA staff, and secure self-service options are not available to domain registrants.
The DTA is seeking a self-service portal that allows registrants to manage details associated with their organisation's registered domains including, but not limited to, contact details, renewal dates and name servers.
