Camooweal 2D Seismic Survey

⁠⁠⁠The Strategic Resources Exploration Program (SREP) will drive exploration for gas in Northwest Queensland. The region encompasses the Georgina Basin, South Nicholson Basin, and Isa Superbasin, which are in the “top 10” list of prospective hydrocarbon basins in the state, as described in the Department of Natural Resources Mines and Energy's (DNRME) Exploration Strategy.

In order to deliver on this commitment, the Basin Studies unit within the Geological Survey of Queensland is undertaking a suite of pre-competitive data gathering activities and regional studies as part of the broader work program.

A key component of this work program, is the proposed “Camooweal 2D Seismic Survey” which aims to enhance subsurface knowledge in an area which is poorly explored, yet known to contain all three basins listed above.

The broad objective of the program is to improve the understanding of the structural and depositional architecture of these frontier basins.
