Tender Description
Over the 2015 and 2016 calendar years, both Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and the Office of Transport Safety Investigations received reports of a significant increase in the number of bus fires experienced on TfNSW contracted and other bus operations around NSW.
TfNSW, through the Asset Standards Authority (ASA), should develop a governance framework for the management and implementation of bus engineering and technical standards and requirements within a whole of life-cycle asset assurance framework.
A Scope of Works has been developed for the engagement of external Bus Technical Specialists, focusing on Bus Fire mitigation associated with:
•engineering and asset management frameworks and assurances,
•bus mechanical systems, and
•bus electrical systems.
Project has three phases;
Phase 1 :Delivery of ASA Standards, Type approval process and acceptance
Phase 2 :Delivery of risk based ASA Standards and all parts of ASA charter, subject to Stakeholder consultation; and
Phase 3 :Implementation and harmonisation phase to adjust and work aspects of ASA charter requirements in full consultation with representative Stakeholders.
Consultant resources will be integrated with TfNSW resources based at the ASA offices in Help Street Chatswood.
