Invitation to Tender Advisory Services (Educational Strategy Development) 2018 -2020.
William Angliss Institute (WAI) is the state specialist centre for foods, tourism, hospitality and events. It was established as a food trades school and training centre in 1940 and currently has nearly 20,000 students undertaking a variety of courses from short lifestyle courses, compliance and licensing, apprenticeships and traineeships through to Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs in the Vocational Education and Training area along with bachelors and masters in the Higher Education area.
In 2010 the Institute enunciated the ambition to become a University of Specialisation. This position has been considered from an educational perspective. WAI now wishes to consider this and other options which are available to best assist the future development of higher education at the Institute.
Since commencing higher education offerings in 2007 with two bachelors courses delivered to 37 students, the Institute's higher education offering has grown to include more than 12 under graduate programs and three masters programs delivered to more than 700 students. WAI is the only TAFE in the country with a research based masters degree and the only non-university institution to offer a masters by praxis and exegesis.
