Expressions of Interest Nominations for an External Independent Member to Audit Committee

⁠⁠⁠E049/2019 Expressions of Interest are invited for Nominations for the appointment of an external independent member to the Tamworth Regional Council Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified individuals for appointment as an external independent member to the Tamworth Regional Council Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.

The Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee is a key component of Council's governance framework. The Committee will be responsible for assisting Council to fulfil its governance and oversight responsibilities.

The Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee is comprised of five members: three independent external members, one of whom will be the Chairperson; the Mayor of the day; and one other Councillor. Council will be expecting the new member to commence duties at the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee meeting to be held on 16 October 2018. Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee members are expected to understand the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, contribute the time needed to study and understand the papers involved, apply analytical skills, objectivity and sound judgement, and express opinions frankly, ask questions and pursue independent lines of enquiry. At least one member shall possess knowledge of accounting, legal, regulatory or audit requirements.

The Committee will meet at least four times a year and is a formally appointed Committee of Council. The initial appointment will be for a two year term.
